slammed by the deadlines
Life is crazybusy this week, so I’m taking the easy way out. For those of you still into thinking deep thoughts, carry on on the other posts - I’m loving the convo. For the rest of you:
If you’re paying attention at all, you’ve noticed that all the posts at this site, with the exception of this one and the reviews/interviews, get their titles from song lyrics. Like many of you, I’ve spent a lot of time over the last year, trying to figure out what Taylor Hicks is singing when he goes off on some improv tangent, and figured this would be my chance to get in on the torture.
So this post is a throw down: some of the lyrics are easy, they’re titles, but many are not. If you think you can ID the tease, send it in. Make it a battle of the boards, if you want by telling me your colors, or form an alliance, or just stay indie. I’ll start checking on things on Friday.
Today’s post is freebee. I figured I could take license, since Hicks doesn’t usually sing the original lyric either. A little Van to listen to while you while:

The lyrics in my posts should be easy because I usually give a big freaking obvious hint in the text…
Well, “I can’t get a single sound” (June 18) is SRV, from Texas Flood.

I’ve been up all night and my brain seems to be on sabbatical or maybe total shutdown. So help me guys. Is What challenging us to ID the origin of the song snippets used as titles for the posts on this site???? — or was his question more full bodied — like do the aforementioned plus ferret out the origin of all the teases that you can find Taylor having done that have not already been identified???
Oh, I was just thinking the easier job of ID’ing the post names, but if someone wants to tackle the unknown Taylor teases, go for it.
Here is a couple. Maybe I will have time for more later.

The Flaming Lips - Waitin’ for a Superman Lyrics
Bob Marley— Jamming yielded the line “I hope you like Jamming too”
Well allright, We’re jamming
I wanna jam it with you,
We’re jamming, jamming
And I hope you like jamming too
Ain’t no rules, ain’t no vow, we can do it anyhow
I and I will see you through,
‘Cos every day we pay the price with a little sacrifice
Jamming till the jammings through.
We’re jamming
To think that jamming was a thing of the past,
We’re jamming
And I hope this jam is gonna last
I am going to do one more then I’ll quit….
“If I gave you my soul on a platter.” These lyrics were written by Dan Greer though you’ll most likely (and understandably think of Paul deLay.
YOU AIN’T GOT NO HEART
lyrics by Dan Greer]
If I gave you my love would you abuse it
And if I offered you the world would you refuse it
If I gave you my heart would you tear it all apart
Then you the kind of woman ain’t got no heart
If I gave you my soul on a platter
And all these things I do for you
Just don’t seem to matter
If I tell you I love you so
And you see the tears and you still don’t know
Then you the kind of woman ain’t got no heart
Chorus:
If you bite the hand that feeds you
And throw my love away
You’ll only hurt someone who needs you
And I know someday baby you’re gonna pay
If I work two jobs everyday
And bring you every
Every penny of my hard-earned pay
Would you say it’s not enough
When you know the times are tough
Then you the kind of woman ain’t got no heart
Chorus
(Repeat third verse)
You got me weepin’ and moanin’ baby
Child you ain’t got no heart
And oh I wonder how you stay alive sometimes baby
Child you ain’t got no heart
I am going to play the game. Michael Houser who was the lead guitarist for Widespread Panic had a song with the lyrics
“I’ll be at your door someday.” The song is “Can’t change the past.”
This might not be where you got the line but that movie Grease has a song called: You’re The One That I Want. That’s my guess.
so far so good, people
