something to talk about
Weekend again, so open discussion. If you’d rather listen than talk, the excellent blog I am Fuel, You are Friends has some very interesting stuff from a Jeff Tweedy benefit house concert to listen to or download. It’s like being in the room when your friend’s playing, except, none of my friends play this well.
Or if you’re in a different mood, a short duel from Pompano:

Evidently Taylor tagged T is for Texas last night. I’m not sure in which song. But my research has given me this…

Lynard Skynard performing it in 1976. They even give Jimmy Rogers props for writing it in the 20’s.
He teased it at the Austin gig last spring, too - in Hold on to Your Love. Seems to be one of those “do it for the locals” kind of hits. Current set list is a work in progress until we hear from more folks.
The “T for Texas” tease was in the Soul Thing encore. And Taylor really worked it. Although not the set list of my dreams last night (as in NOLA), it was still a solid fun show with some great moments. The HOB venue was excellent. The crowd was into it. The band was a tight unit, with a tangible connection among its members — musically and personally. And I really was struck all evening with the notion that it might be my last oppportunity to see this particular group of musicians perform together. From my vantage point in front of Al Carty and Josh Smith, I certainly enjoyed the feast. I know the tour’s not over, but I miss this band already.
