a change is gonna come
With Hicks off the road for a few weeks and the touring season basically over, we’re going to make a few changes here.
First, the blog itself is going on a two week hiatus. Everything here will stay here, everything will still be open for comments. But we won’t be posting. Personally, I’m needing a couple of weeks of not thinking about whether I need to be thinking, a couple of weeks to just chill and get caught up with life. When we come back, we’ll continue posting on a more relaxed schedule, probably two or three times a week, because real life is going to stay pretty intensely busy for quite awhile. In the meantime, I’ll swing by to clear moderation and read email, and might even comment, but otherwise, it’ll be chill.
But, I’m still really wanting to get connected with other music fans, so to help continue the discussion with all of you involved, we’re opening a message board to parallel the blog. It may seem like that’s the last thing needed right now, with multiple Hicks fan sites out there, and an off-the-road period coming up. But every corner has it’s own vibe, and what we’re looking to do is just keep this one going on a more shared footing. Like c2what, the board will be music based and open to the wide reading public. We’re planning on bringing it up live next weekend. I’ll shoot a quick post here when it’s about ready to go. Check back Friday, or take the time to dig back into the bowels of this place or do a little downloading.
Can’t give a post this title without thinking back on that time when most of us first heard the name Taylor Hicks. Those two minutes told me that it would be worth waiting (and wading) through what was bound to be a lot of bull.

Good for you, What. I’m so glad you are pacing yourself, rather than getting to the burn out point, and closing down the whole site. There is a lot here to look back on while you are taking a breather. Just make sure you come back!
As for Taylor, what a learning curve this has been for him. The voice, the talent was always there of course. But what a long way he’s had to come from being the shy young man who could barely look the judges in the eye, first stood there like a school boy in front of the head master! A change has indeed come for Mr. Hicks, and I think he’s handled it with grace and courage. As much as this may have been what he wanted,as gratifying as it must be a lot of the time, it can’t always have been easy.
I’d forgotten how many “lines” came out of that spot.
I did not expect that.
Make it do what it do.
…others?…
I just want my voice heard.
For the sake of accuracy, there was no “just”!
it’sa bout time!
hahaha, spoons….
about time:
(a) I shut up for two weeks?
(b) Hicks gets off the road?
(c) we build a board?
(d) all of the above?
(and what are you doing commenting during the daylight? Your team lose or something?)
I’m glad you’re not going away permanently what, I have really enjoyed reading this blog and have found artists that I love.
Enjoy your break.
I hope the message board doesn’t turn into crap that
I have seen on other boards.
Let’s think positively that there can be a positive message board. I for one am sick of the crap. I enjoyed watching the video. It still impresses me. At the end of the day I think ‘damn that man can sing’. Enjoy your vacation.
Enjoy your rest, but hurry back. It’s great to come to a sane place.
I’m glad people are interested in the board. I’ll explain more about it on Friday, but just know it’ll be in the same vein as the rest of this place. In the mean time, it’d be great if we drop the “nature of msg boards” discussion until then, since I really don’t want to have to moderate much during this time I’m off, and this has a potential to go down hill. No need to fret.
A message board sounds fun. I’ll be back to check that out.
I’m anxious to see how the message board goes. Sounds like fun.
Everytime I see that audition video…It’s difficult to believe that the confident artist that I see today, is the same guy. I can see why sometimes he needs to go back inside himself…to gain perspective of where he has been and where he is going. It must be overwhelming sometimes.
