are you experienced?
Forty years ago Jimi Hendrix returned to his native country and, in one fell swoop changed the musical landscape for all time.
I wasn’t going to post today, but then remembered that a great live concert DVD release is coming out today: The Jimi Hendrix Experience Live at Monterey and couldn’t let it go unmentioned.
Some of you may be lucky enough to live within crawling distance of a related live tour. The line up is enough to make a person cry. Read this and tell me you didn’t at least whimper.
In the meantime, from Monterery, but not from this DVD:

“Jimi Hendrix fundamentally pioneered the outstanding possibilities of the electric guitar,” said Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar.” His influence today is as strong as it was in the 1960s and 1970s.
Damn right.
What, do you play guitar?
Yeah, kinda - in the sit around with friends or entertain myself sense. Just enough to make people with taste change the subject.
Filed this under the old “he who hesitates ” cliche - - it’s a long drive for me and mid-week but am still kicking myself for not just doing it ! ! The news of the DVD may save some further bruising.

” It is with great pleasure that we welcome the legendary rhythm section of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Mitch Mitchell & Billy Cox celebrating the music and legacy of Jimi Hendrix. The show will feature Buddy Guy, Robert Randolph and Kenny Wayne Shepherd along with special performances by Mick Taylor (legendary Rolling Stones Guitarist), Hubert Sumlin (Howlin Wolf’s legendary Guitarist) and Indigenous.
Simply put the Casino Ballroom has just added to its historic lore. A show not to be missed as we celebrate the music of a master on the beach in Hampton NH.
The only northeast appearance.”
