i’m a lady and i’m hard to find
“I was studying Miss Billie, Miss Ella, Miss Sarah Vaughan and Miss Natalie Cole…”-Let’s Rock, Chrisette Michele

Chrisette Michele’s album “I Am” sounds like R&B, jazz, gospel, neo-soul, and hip-hop together with an old school elegant voice that more than one person has compared to singers like Ella Fitzgerald.
This lovely lady has created something beautiful that can lift the spirit.
Thanks, Miss Chrisette. We needed this.

P.S. While her album “I Am” came out in June of this year, Hip-Hop fans already knew her from her work with Jay-Z and Nas.

Out of the four selected MP3s that you I like “Best Of Me”
and “Your Joy”. My reason for that is the first two have your
Hip Hop beat which is sooo repetitive. Repetitive as in each
and every Hip Hop tune has that same beat and it becomes boring. IMO. No personal offense.
I understand the old school thing there is just a little of that
in her music.
I posted a message about about “that throwback sound” on your message board http://www.c2wspeakeasy.com/c2w/viewtopic.php?t=113 and mentioned other current artists that have that old school sound.
I’m sure there are more than the ones I listed. Maybe others
would like to add an artist they are aware of to the list
on the message board.
Each and every hip-hop song has the same beat? Really?
Well T&J give me some examples other wise.
oooh…. a rap off?
Well, right on this page are a few songs with different beats…
I was going to post the top 10 songs that KMEL is playing this week, but that would be overkill I guess.
I’ll just stick to two artists and a few of their songs:
J. Davis Trio

Kanye West

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdIR2BThmTg
There are so many kinds of hip hop… How about Gnarls Barkley? Do all their songs have the same beat? …And that makes me think of Danger Mouse… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qFd1QvNPKmI Is that beat the same as all the others?
T &Jam I responded to you reply on the
message board.
