state of the blog
While I’ve done a pretty good job of ignoring things here and getting other things done, a couple of things have come up to nudge me into making some decisions. For one, it’s been a year since this thing started (really?!), so that meant a decision on whether to renew domain names. For another, a misunderstanding about what it means to “use my account within 60 days” has led to virtually all of my audio files being deleted and therefore, unplayable players throughout the 175 posts here (oy!). So, what to do? Let it sit in embarassing decay? Delete it all? Fix it to its old self and ignore it? Ditto, only continue? Do something new?
I’m almost done with grad school, and I missed sounding off, so I’m doing some combination of the latter two. In registering, I decided to go with a set-up that lets me host the website, which gives newer and funner toys to play with (and plenty of room to store my audio). But that will take some rebuilding. In the process, I’m going to shift/expand the focus of the blog a bit. It’s naturally taken on a wider musical focus than I first imagined, and in this season I can’t not talk about the election. Vibe+rant, so to speak.
So the new version will have the same stuff as this version, only with some different look and structure. I’m in the process of making changes, but I’m also still heavily into my last grad school class and prepping for some professional exams, so it won’t all hatch in one beautiful and shiny completeness. One day, probably soon, “c2what.com” will point to the new thing, which will be functioning and open for business. It’ll have all the posts and comment history from here. But I’ll still be in the process of working backwards through it to make sure all the audio is accessible. And I’ll be in the process of tweaking the structure.
This blog will still exist as is, in its broken state, but will only be reachable through it’s native wordpress name, which is “comparedtowhat.wordpress.com” Once the port is fully complete, this may (or may not) go away, but at that point it won’t be updated.
In other words, I’m back. I hope old readers come back to read and comment. Whichever blog you get at the “c2what.com” address, that’s the current one. Unless, of course, I screw up. Is that all confusing enough?
