Actually, Ben Stein is quite a brilliant man...

From WikiPedia:
Benjamin Jeremy Stein (born November 25, 1944) is an American television personality, economic and political commentator, writer, and attorney. He gained early success as a speechwriter for American presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. Later he entered the entertainment field and became an Emmy Award-winning actor, comedian, and game show host. He is famous for his monotonous yet humorous voice in acting.

Stein has frequently written commentaries on economic, political, and social issues, along with financial advice to individual investors. He is the son of noted economist and writer Herbert Stein[1] who worked at the White House under President Nixon. His sister, Rachel, is also a writer.

This was really fascinating....and since when did Ben Stein become a money expert? I think I missed something along the way. Last I knew people were trying to "win his money" away from him on game shows.

I wake up every morning still, and wonder, is this really true? Damn! It feels good!

I love Wilco, but it might be more fitting to have someone who lived through the struggle that led to the occasion.

Hope to see Wilco on December 6, although something has come up that, sadly, may change my plans.

Those are all great artists that I'd love to see there. But if I had to pick only one, I'd vote for Mavis Staples.

I saw her at the Newport Jazz Festival this summer and she is still in fantastic voice.

You've preempted me on the Cohen song. I saw it on Sullivan's site, too, was surprised I didn't already know the song, and have already passed it on to some friends. I was saving it for here for tomorrow.

On this election, way back in January I did a WaPo survey where I answered my answers to a myriad of issues, and the widget showed me which candidate I was closest, too. I liked that idea of having my ideas and goals pick my candidate, rather than me just going on my gut. That thing pegged my views as right in line with Obama's. Since then, I've come to think temperament matters almost as much as views on policy, and am glad I don't have to adjust my vote on that account either.

Have been reading Andrew Sullivan’s “The Daily Dish”, for some time. Conservative journalism I can actually tolerate. I come from a very liberal background, though I find myself drifting closer to the “Center” on certain issues. Even to the “Right” here and there. I’ve been watching Mr. Sullivan on the Sunday news programs for years, and think he’s an alright guy.

By the way, the Leonard Cohen video he has posted for Nov. 3, entitled “A Song For Tuesday”, is perfect for today’s election.
